Beskrivelse

The battleship Tirpitz, at more than 50,000 tonnes, was the largest warship built in Europe. Tirpitz, the most hunted battleship in history, after completion, was sent to Norway where the ship was to attack Allied convoys bound to and from Russia. Simply by being there, Tirpitz forced the Allies to expend a large amount of resources attempting to sink her. Nearly 700 aircraft alone participated in attacks between 1942-44. Two specialised missions, one using X-craft and the other using Chariot “human torpedoes” were also conducted. The number of ships, supplies, fuel, ammunition and personnel required to conduct these attacks is almost incalculable.

Follow the story about Hitler’s last battleship in this book. Through photos, illustrations, charts and words, all the attacks and operations are explained in detail. The book is richly illustrated with almost 700 photos (many previously unpublished), maps, weapons, aircraft, 3-D drawings and camouflage schemes.
